2025 Key Events and Achievements
Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation
This year, our English Drama members proudly represented the school at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation with a moving performance of Don’t Forget to Remember Me by Haresh Sharma. The play explored the emotional struggles of families coping with dementia, a theme both challenging and deeply poignant. Months of dedication, rehearsals, and teamwork culminated in a heartfelt and authentic performance that touched both the judges and the audiences. Our members’ passion and commitment were recognised when we achieved the Certificate of Distinction, the highest honour in the festival. It is a true testament to their artistry, perseverance, and spirit of excellence.
Thespian Horror Festival
At the Thespian Horror Festival, our Drama members unleashed their creativity by writing, directing, performing, and filming their own short horror productions. Competing against students from other schools, they explored the art of suspense and psychological tension while gaining hands-on filmmaking experience. From crafting scripts and designing sets to adapting their performances for the camera, our members discovered new dimensions of storytelling. The festival was not just about thrills and chills — it was a valuable platform for learning collaboration, experimenting with genres, and honing emotional expression and technical skill.
Emcees for Speech Day and Open House
Beyond the stage, our Drama members took on the spotlight as emcees for key school events such as Speech Day and Open House. These occasions offered members the chance to apply their stage confidence and voice training to real-life settings, engaging diverse audiences with professionalism and warmth. Through these experiences, students honed vital communication and presentation skills, showcasing the versatility of Drama training. Whether performing in character or addressing a hall full of guests, our members continue to embody the poise, expressiveness, and confidence that define the English Drama club members.
English Drama this year has been an unforgettable journey. From the long hours of rehearsals and endless lines to the laughter-filled sessions with friends, every moment has been truly special. Even with all the challenges, pressure, and the lack of time, we managed to put together a meaningful play and proudly clinched a Distinction in SYF 2025! I'm beyond grateful to my teachers, our instructor, and every one of my drama members for their support and dedication. Without them, none of this would have been possible. This experience has made my first and last English Drama SYF such a memorable one, and I'll always treasure the memories we created together. I look forward to the journey ahead with this CCA!— Myat Yamone Aye
