AV Crew

AV Crew supports school events by managing sound, lighting, and visual projection. Join as a second CCA to gain hands-on technical skills and contribute to school life.

Aims:

AV Crew aims to support the running of school activities and programmes through:

  1. Operating the public announcement system for daily flag raising;

  2. Providing sound and visual projection support for assemblies and school activities; and

  3. Providing sound, lighting, visual projection and backstage support for performances in the school hall.

In 2025, AV Crew reinforced their skills and worked with updated equipment. Some of the activities supported by AV Crew members had increased in complexity.

Sports carnival saw the use of live PA (Public Announcement) systems at three venues, instead of just the school hall and parade square in the previous years. For the first time, the proceedings at the ISH (Indoor Sports Hall) had a more carnival feel with live music and some emcee banter. This added a more carnival feel to the sports carnival.

This year’s Teachers’ Day concert and Graduation Ceremony featured more live vocals and band performances. AV Crew had the opportunity to run effective backstage and on-stage band instrument support with minimal preparation and rehearsal. Doing live performances is always challenging and AV Crew did well to render support that culminated in a good show for the audience.

Looking to 2026, AV Crew hopes to see more Riversidians join its ranks to support school activities. At the same time, it looks forward to more opportunities to hone their skills and become a better AV Crew.

I never imagined myself joining AV Crew as I had no prior experience. When I joined, I was warmly welcomed by friendly, supportive seniors who guided me whenever I had questions. My first major event was our 37th Speech Day (in 2024), where I learnt to coil wires, set up condenser mics, and discovered the exciting world behind the scenes. Though it was overwhelming at first, I gradually grew comfortable and bonded with my fellow AV Crew mates. I look forward to coming for more AV Crew activities and want to continue learning and contributing to more school events.
