Highlights:
Immersion in Hong Kong’s culture and heritage
In 2025, a group of Riversidians embarked on an immersion trip to Hong Kong. At Kwok Yat Wai College, students attended lessons alongside their Hong Kong peers, participated in a Geography-themed heritage trail, and shared aspects of Singapore’s culture through discussions and presentations.
Students also discovered the artistry of Cantonese opera by trying on traditional costumes, learning signature movements and watching a live demonstration. Their visit to Tai O Fishing Village offered further insight into Hong Kong’s heritage as they explored its distinctive stilt houses and learnt more about the Tanka community.
Discovering Vietnam’s History, Culture and Future
In 2025, a group of Riversidians embarked on an immersion trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Through their visit to Hai Ba Trung School, students attended morning assembly and English lessons, enjoyed cultural performances, and forged friendships with their Vietnamese peers through conversations and sports.
At the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, students learnt about Vietnam’s plans for national development and gained a deeper appreciation of Singapore and Vietnam’s close partnership in urban and technological growth. Their visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels also offered valuable insight into the country’s history and the resilience of its people.
